zaragorti:The letters ŝŭĝĥĉĵ are typed by pressing the keys marked qw[]xcj. I haven't gotten used to it yet because mi estas tre comencanto, but I imagine that once you get used to it you would be able to type much more fluently than using the x or h methods. You can achieve the same thing in Tajpi with the rektaj klavoj option.

Add me as another advocate for Tajpi! Although I use the program, I do it a little differently than most users. I have it set so that I type ^ before a letter to add the diacritic. So ^ then g becomes ĝ, etc. I do this simply because it's the way I type other accents on my computer.
For example, typing "mountain's peak" would end up looking like m̈ountainś peak" (edit: I just realized that it won't display on this site, but there should be two dots over the m)
Well, I couldn't find out a way to change it and I had to resort to switching the layout and setting it to only type the accented letters after specific sequences. It was irritating.
zaragorti:None of these options allows you to just get on with typing.Sorry, what do you mean by this? I don't really see how the x system would be inconvenient.
You can do the same thing with Linux (which I prefer to Windows). Linux is much more tweakable, even for non-geeks, so a quick search will show you how. This is not related to the original topic, but I used to use Linux when I had an older computer. I liked it, but one thing that irritated me was how the keyboard layout worked. In Windows, I use the U.S. international keyboard layout, which enables me to quickly and easily type diacritics for use in other languages. For the languages I used (essentially just romantic languages) these marks are mostly on vowels (with the exception of characters like ç). However, this setting in Linux put an accent over every letter that followed a symbol on my keyboard.
