Change of user name now possible?

I know a long time ago someone asked if there was a way to change a users name & the reply was that it was being looked into. Did anything ever happen about this?

Knowing what I know now at the very least I would have liked a user name without non-Esperanto characters.

Changing your username won't be possible till the new lernu launches. You will surely notice when this happens, the site will look completely different. At that time we'll migrate to a new database and the new database will allow a change in the name field (currently becuase of the way things are indexed in our database, it is not technically possible to change your username).

I know what you mean. I first created an account here quite a while ago, but it wasn't very Esperanto-friendly. Luckily, you can delete accounts...so I just made a new one.

Off topic: Erinja, may I ask if there is any timeframe for when the new Lernu will be up & running? I do understand this is probably a complex matter & the only real answer may be 'when it is ready'

Cool we'll be able to change our usernames when Lernu relaunches. I wonder when will that be.

The first time I signed-up was with an email that has been deleted due to inactivity so I was unable to verify my account. So I had to use a different one instead.

My desired username isn't too far off from what I have now. It's Sidhi_Antas, which is 1 Tagalog word different.

You can always e-mail teamo@lernu.net to deal with this type of account problem. The administrators can manually verify your account and change your e-mail address.

Sounds cool. When will this “ominous” new lernu! launch? I’ve read so often about it, but I still don’t really know what it’ll be actually all about. ridulo.gif

No fixed date has been announced. We are redoing basically all of the site's content and making a totally new course that will replace all of our current courses (which will still be available in the new lernu library, but not in interactive form). The development of the exercises for the new course has gone slower than expected, hence the delays. The website itself will be rebuilt from scratch.
