Esperantujo has a high proportion of techies - bitcoin might be a nice idea for donations.

That is the reason Lernu cannot progress very fast as it is depending on volunteering. If the site can employ one full time html programmer this would enhance the site to certain attractive level.

With Duolingo new learning programme, lernu will be left out. I prefer kurso very much but i got to know it very late.

Many Indonesians are using mobile phone to connect to the internet and facebook. If with mobile version for learnin, just open a few section on mobile version, specially the learning level one and two. It would suffice for more people to be interested in Esperanto especially those travelling on the jam traffic transport, maybe, they can finish a lesson by the time they reach home. Malaysia Esperanto Studies Group came up with 35 hours with 350 phrases for the shoe string travellers.

I think you can get a extension for browsers like Chrome and FireFox that will generate the QR code of the current page's URL with the click of a button.

Just search the extension page for QR code generator from current URL.

Thanks, already did that long time ago. But just to lament here as many esperantistis always defense for free items in esperantujo.

Lernu never think of a way to promote the site but google in fact is kind to lernu, what one search Esperanto, it is all the time on the top of the search page.

What I would like to proof that money talks better. Waiting for volunteers, they are working 8 hours of work, if the traffic is bad a jam of one hour, to and fro will be two hours, ten hours are gone.

Family relationship should be maintained and we cannot forced the volunteers to ignore.

Free is a bad idea in fact.

Did that long time ago, if lernu does not want other people to help to promote the site, it is hard to gain readers.

Is Duolingo not a "free" site as well? Are the course designers there paid for their work? Do they still have dayjobs? I would say it has more to do with a larger general interest in Duolingo because it is a shiny new website compared to Lernu. The courses here are not going to be outdated because of Duolingo. I would bet that Duolingo will lead others here to get supplemental materials.

That being said, I have to agree 100% with the need for a mobile site. In poorer and less-developed nations there are more people with smartphones than with computers. The entire Firefox phone OS is based on targeting this huge demographic. However, I would guess that the new Lernu is based on some platform that includes better mobile support.

I would also not be bothered by a more permanent donation link on the main page or in the header/footer. I would also be supportive of Google advertisements or similar, since they track what I am interested in and are doing me a service as far as I'm concerned.

As far as I know, there are few full time html techno in Duolingo. The course content is negotiable with the full time staff.

Many learn in Kurso and never touch lernu because Kurso is sufficient to get on reading and conversation. I beg to be differ that Duolingo would redirect the learners to here. yes, they will come in to register but let it die after a few visits.

I do not know what level the Duolingo will do but those who learn Spanish express that they can go on conversation after level ten.

That would be one advantage of Duolingo over Lernu, since they can have paid staff that are not related to the course content of one language. I was more wondering if the course creators are paid, or if they just have a basic staff for the website. Either way this is an advantage, but you have to recognize that the Duolingo course creators most likely do not have to worry about the website itself, whereas the Lernu team has both tasks to manage.

It is pure speculation as to where Duolingo Esperantists would flock to, but I imagine that at least some would come here. Lernu has some advanced material and other useful features that differentiate it from other sites that I know of.
