But I fully support this idea! The more publicity for Esperanto, the better.
EDIT: It occurred to me that some people might be put off by the use of Google Forms, which is mentioned fairly prominently in the signup box. Just a thought.

Tempodivalse:Minor comment about the layout of the website: perhaps it would be better for the content to start closer to the top of the page. Currently I have to scroll down past a large and rather non-descriptive image. Thanks for the feedback, Tempodivalse. I will reconsider the layout of the front page.

I'm curious why you think people might be turned off by Google Forms though. I had originally used a different form template, but someone recommended I switch. Google Forms is convenient because it automatically puts all the information into a Sheets doc. Also, Google Forms is widely known, meaning people will know their info is going to a spreadsheet and not just directly to a spammy email list. Having said that, I am open to other options. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

rapn21:Well done, its a great idea! I'm delighted to see it doing so well. When I signed it, I was only number 12 so I wasn't sure if it'd take off, but congratulations on getting Stephen Fry's approval. I posted it onto the Duolingo forum and got a pretty decent response (positive and negative). It's great to see the numbers increase by a hundred or so everydayThanks, Robert! I really appreciate the support you have given the project on social media. Stephen Fry tweeting about it changed the prospects of the project. The list went from 42 to 674 (and counting) in half of a week. I am so excited to see how much it has taken off already.

Jonatano:Yeah, he really helped push it along. I wonder how hard it would be to get Shatner to tweet about it, considering he is one of the stars of Incubus.rapn21:Well done, its a great idea! kaŝperanto:It's funny you mention Shatner because I sent him a similar email two days ago. I emailed the press email listed on his website, although this may have been the wrong one. If you know of a better way of contacting him, let me know. I don't think he accepts tweet requests as openly as Stephen Fry though.Jonatano:Yeah, he really helped push it along. I also am writing a letter to the Pope (who does not receive emails). I know this is a long shot, but I thought the same about Stephen Fry a few days ago and he responded quite positively. It shouldn't hurt to try!

kaŝperanto:OK, I'll sign it. Despite the fact that I study Esperanto regardless of whether 10 million other people do it!Christa627:I see in the list of signatures a lot of names that I already recognize as people who already speak Esperanto, for example, Robb Kvasnak, Steven Brewer, and Chuck Smith (I assume that is this Chuck Smith); so I guess it is not a problem for people who already speak it to promise to learn it if 10 million other people do the same?As true as this is, it is necessary for current supporters to sign to increase the apparent popularity of it. If I see a list of 10 names I'm a lot less likely to sign than if I see a list of 1000. It lends some apparent credibility to the project for people who don't know about it.
I told my brothers about it; the oldest one replied that he wouldn't mind doing it "to force other people to make themselves miserable if they feel bound to something like that." I kinda expected something like that, but I just can't resist asking, just to see what they'll say...
But I highly doubt that he'll sign it, anyway.

It seems the website has some issues.
