Esperanto person of the year

Does the community have a person of the year award? If not, I think it would be a good idea. The candidates would be people who have helped Esperanto in some way. Lernu could be the voting hub, with registered users being eligible to vote.

Great idea. I like it. It would be really hard for me to choose someone though. There are so many helpful people.

La Ondo de Esperanto had already established a similar award - La Esperantisto de la Jaro

I'm not sure that this is a good idea. I would expect the voters in Ondo to be experienced Esperantists, with a good knowledge of what is going on in the movement.

Nah. Esperantujo doesn't need a cheerleading/popularity contest.
