How many visitors portal shoud have to be profitable ? Is there eunght esperantist in the world for that ?

Wow! I had forgotten about Ĝangalo! I started speaking Esperanto in about 2005 so it was still up back then. To be honest I never used it much, maybe because I didn't have a high enough reading level. I basically remember that it existed and that is it. I remember Internacia Televido like that too.

I wonder if there is anything similar to it right now...Maybe El Popola Ĉinio? http://www.espero.com.cn/
Libera Folio? http://www.liberafolio.org/
Or Studio? http://novajhoj.weebly.com/

I like Ipernity and Verduloj.com, but those aren't really news sites...

Looking at the first five thread titles from the archived page that I've just read highlights how eternal some topics really are:

- Fasile - la anti-esperanta lingvo
- Akuzativo...havi aŭ ne havi en Esperanto?
- Ĉu donas "ri" pli da logika belo al Esperanto?
- Akuzativo kun la prepozicio "na"
- Chu ortografia reformo gravas?

From what I recall at the time, it was far too much work for far too few people for far too little income. Flavio did a tonne of work for several years but there was no way he could keep it up.

Sounds like Vikinovajxoj could potentially replace gxangalo.com using the new crowdsourcing approach (alas, my efforts to raise interest in the project failed). However, Vikimedio Esperanta still seems to intimidate some speakers, and the community is quite small (mostly restricted to Vikipedio).
