Do you load things or do you load containers?

1- Ŝarĝu la vazaron.
2- Ŝarĝu la aŭton.

Which one is correct?

We load containers with things (or batteries with power). However neither example is correct, because you need an object ending. You might have e.g. Ni ŝarĝis la kofrujon de la auto per niaj valizoj. ("We loaded the trunk of the car with our suitcases." )

There are two words, ŝarĝi and ŝargi.

Loading data, loading power into electronics, loading a gun - that is ŝargi

Loading a vehicle with stuff, loading a container with heavy things - that is ŝarĝi

I had assumed loading a gun and batteries was ŝarĝi, simply because of the resemblance to 'charge', and that the loading of a car etc, would be ŝargi because it's closer to 'cargo' and the Italian/Spanish equivalents.
