There was a user who decided to check our system for security flaws by using the URL links to inject scripts into the site and post his results to the forums. Because it was not possible to make a quick fix to this problem in light of the other work that the site is currently undergoing, and because the problem was now public and we couldn't have a publicly-known unrepaired security problem in the site, the URL linking was disabled entirely.No, it was not disabled entirely.
