So there is apparently a change of plan as far as Lernu's language etiquette is concerned. Now we get to speak in any language in any part of the forum, as long as we stick to one language per thread. Will you guys make use of your new-found, long-denied freedom to krokodili (or aligatori for that matter) in the Vidpunktoj part of the forum or will you stick to E-o here? ridulo.gif

I will stick to Esperanto wherever it makes sense. Though there might be cases in which a non-Esperanto Vidpunkto-thread makes sense, i believe that most national language threads belong best in Pri ĉio cetera and Konsultejo.

I'll be using whatever language I feel like at the time, in all of the forum sections. With the new language filters there's absolutely no reason to restrict the fadenaroj to specific languages any more. This is a brilliant change to the forum in my view, and sweeps away any reason anybody might have had for carping on about the forum's language rules.

I expect that when I do post new threads - which is rarely these days - I'll do both an English and Esperanto post.

Is it good though if, for example, vidpunkto, or what used to be vidpunkto in the old forum, gets filled with English language discussions?
At least in the old forum that sub-forum was an Esperanto counterweight to the rather dominant English forum.

That's a risk, yes; but it can also be a chance. In the old forum many users started threads in the English subforum, although the thread had fitted better in other subfora. Now that these users have to use subfora, which are multilingual, they might be driven to use Esperanto instead. We'll see.

EDIT: Since this thread actually is one of these, which i had spoken of, i guess the trend has already been set *snap*

Esperanto seems dominant thus far. In truth, there were always more Esperanto posts than English posts. It was just that the English ones were more numerous than the posts in any one single Esperanto forum, so it seemed like a lot.

The international what?

Language I presume. No. The thread language is clearly stated as English.

Yeah, the international language. You know, English.

Speaking only for myself, and for no one else, I honestly think that (for me) the old lernu! forum structure was better. After some time with the new one, I prefer the old one. I think the old forum structure was better arranged, and I could find posts which I wanted among the various subforums as I wanted. The Esperanto only forums were well arranged, and if I wanted to read posts in English on any subject in that forum, I could do so. For me personally, the forum structure of the "new" lernu! is worse than the old one. (I am not commenting on the rest of the website.)
