Saluton,
I'm a french-speaking swiss resident and I'll be moving to the UK in two weeks, for at least one year. I'd be happy to find esperantists around Oxford to practice and improve my esperanto. In a perfect world, I'd even be really interested in living in a shared flat with esperanto-speaking people, to learn the language "by immersion".
I already contacted the EAB (Esperanto Association of Britain) but the group they had near Oxford seems to be quite inactive.
Would you have ideas about how to get in touch with esperantists in the area?
Thanks for your help!

There is at least one active blogger - 'gasto de mondo Jens' - in Oxford writing in Esperanto, and the city is also the home of Marjorie Boulton.

If you write a comment on Jens' blog , that would be a start and hopefully will lead to more contacts.

Hi, I am from a town near Oxford, and I'll be returning home for a couple of weeks in November before going abroad again.

I'd be grateful if you could leave an update here if you succeed in finding/creating a group of Esperantists, or a regular meet up or anything. If you do, I'll come and say hi when I'm back home ridulo.gif

Also, it might be worth posting something in the facebook Duolingo Esperanto learners' group, since there could be many budding Esperanto learners in the vicinity who hadn't thought to find people to chat with in real life yet.

regards,

Michael

Do update this if you do find a group, i am not very far from oxford, about an hour or so driving, and might be able to make a meet up or something if it was at the weekends and i would love to practice my beginner esperanto with a real live human being.

Hi there,
Thanks a lot noelekim for your answer, I'm now in contact with Jens.
Michael and IonaSky, I'll keep you updated but for now on it's not progressing very fast - hopefully it will be easier when I'll be in Oxford ridulo.gif
Best,
Fanje

Hello, as far as I know the Esperanto YouTuber Barbaro Esperantisto lives in Reading, which is near Oxford. You could try contacting him via his YouTube channel or Twitter @BEsperanto.
