When written, Norwegian and Danish are very similar. But Danish pronunciation is really strange. We Norwegians use to say that they speak with a potato in their throat

The sketch is made by Norwegian comedians, and I think it's quite funny. You don't have to understand Danish or Norwegian to watch this, because the actors speak English with a heavy "Danish" accent. When they speak "Danish", it's just babbleing.

I've heard it said (at least half seriously) that when Norwegians get really drunk and start slurring their speech, it's a bit easier for Danes to understand them...

Frakseno:It seems unanimous that potatos are the leading cause of miscommunication between Norwegians and Danes. If Norwegians and Danes have problems with potatoes, why don't they eat tomatoes, instead ?
Tomatoes and white fresh Italian cheese (mozzarella) are very tasty.
They don't need to pronounce them, but just to eat them.

Sometimes similar sketches are made about people from the north/east of Germany meeting with people from the south (or Austria or Switzerland).
There are very strong regional differences giving a lot of room for jokes...

I am very uspet about what is said on this forum. Actually, I'm quite shoked.
really, you shouldn't criticise Danish people like this. It's a basic right to like potatoes. I think that it's one of the basic right of the Human Rights: "every has the right to like potatoes".
As a inhabitant of Belgium, I am really upset to know that there are still, even in the 21th century, people that consider the fact to like potatoes a crime.
gxis,
PS: for those who didn't understand yet, it 's a joke
