Esperanto special letters

Saluton!

I have finally managed to set up the Esperanto keyboard feature on KDE on my Linux Asus EEE (or rather gotten hubby to do it for me), but neither of us can find or figure out the key for the special letters with the symbols. Does anyone know this?

I have been using the x-method for typing them, but I'd like to use the right letters. I have the feature, but I don't know which keys to press to get those letters. Helpo! ridulo.gif

One search I did came up with a wikipedia link with a key, but it didn't seem to actually work. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! Dankon!

I used the directions here to make my Linux Eee Pc type Esperanto. With the layout I'm using to type the special characters you use qwyx;' for ŝĵĝĉŭĥ.

Under KDE you can set it up so that a simple key combination (for example, Ctrl-Shift) will switch keymaps back and forth.

Unfortunately, I haven't run KDE in several years, so I can't remember precisely how to do it. However, if you hit one of the Linux forums (especially ones oriented around KDE, like the Kubuntu forums) they can tell you.

The information ganymeder posted a link to may work, but seems overly complicated to me. I know that it isn't really that hard - I just don't remember the specific steps.

This seems to be a common question, maybe the best advice should be added to a sticky thread or an official page on Lernu! or something...

I don't know if we have sticky threads here, I just assumed so. Maybe we don't... That would be unfortunate.

Mi ne scias ĉu ĉi-tiu forumo havas "gluitaj temoj" kapablecon. Eble ne... Tio malfeliĉus.

I haven't seen sticky threads before, but I think that it possibly is available.
