Much higher than $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ at the moment ridulo.gif
on Linux I used abcTajpu for firefox.
I have been using that too for a few months, it's really nice.
I didn't know how to add the dot on the shin with my keyboard layout yet. malgajo.gif
I found somewhere a farsi keymap, it was useful to me when I tried to learn it. IIRC, sin and shin were distinct letters on it. I saved the picture but I don't have it here... let me see if I can find something. Oh, this should do it:

I wonder if on an actual keyboard the Function keys would be marked as F1, F2, etc or F١, F٢, F٣ ...

Not that I'm typing Arabic all the time or anything (very rarely, actually) but I find a farsi keymap more useful than an arabic one anyway. It enables me to type my last name (which has a P!)

I don't know exactly how Arabic diacritics work with keyboards, but in Hebrew, the nekudot (the dots and dashes around the letters) are included with the number keys. You hit caps lock, then hit shift+[whichever number key has the diacritic you want]. Then the mark appears with your letter; that's how I got the dagesh on my pey on my previous post, and the kamatz and patach on my alef.

It's a huge pain. Diacritics aren't used in everyday typing in Hebrew; theoretically they are mandatory in Yiddish, in some cases, but I think Yiddish isn't typed that often anyway, so people either leave them out (and understand the words from context) or else go through the trouble and put them in. Or else download an alternative Yiddish keymap that has diacritics built in.

Normally with a Hebrew text that needs nekudot, I type it all out with no nekudot, then go through and point it all at the same time.

For me, it does not make sense thinking of writing esperanto with the alphabeth of another language. every language has its own identity and the alphabeth is a major factor in this regard.

It's not to replace Esperanto's alphabet. I think of it more as being a fun way to learn to read a foreign alphabet.
