In Esperanto, to say "French" as in the language, one says "la franca". But if one wants to reference the people "the French", how would that translate?

franc- is the word root regarding the French, so you have franc·o “Frenchman”, franc·in·o “Frenchwoman”, franc·a “french”, la franc·a “French (language)”, Franc·uj·o “France” &c. So you're looking for franc·o·j (or possibly franc·a naci·o, depending on the context).
