Koracio:Is machine translation from and to Espernato fine?
Fine for what?

Personally I don't think it is (yet) fit for purpose. Just last week I was perusing Etsy and the site auto-translates according to your location. The auto translation to Dutch is riddled with errors. Though not a huge language, but it is a national language with a long presence in Google's translation project. That project is improving all the time, but you can test its efficacy yourself by translating between any two languages you know enough to judge errors.

Let's imagine you were using machine translation to translate information that depended upon accuracy; something that might be upset by syntax errors or poor vocabulary choices. Someone somewhere might end up taking medication incorrectly or going to the wrong location or pushing a nuclear button malgajo.gif It isn't quite ready yet.

... I think the intent was, is machine translation "fine" as a reason to link Esperanto with science or technology.

I would say yes! People have done work in this field and it is something you could talk about in your presentation.

There's also KAEST (google it), a conference in Esperanto on scientific and technical topics.

That confuses me. Surely machine translation makes Esperanto redundant?

I believe the idea is to use Esperanto as an intermediary language for machine translations. So Amharic-Esperanto and Esperanto-Irish rather than programming a whole translation interface for a little-used pair like Amharic-Irish.

It is for mthe machine translation difficult translate into Hungarian because of its grammatic, the sentences mostly are not right. It makes few mistakes translating from Hungarian into English. How is it with Esperanto?
