Where did you grow up?
What is her heritage? Where did her mother grow up?
Is your spelling phonetic, or did she tell you how to spell it?

My friend grew up in Cali and Oregon too, but her mother is from New York.

Cali in Colombia?
Hey, Sinanthiel, always nice to see a fellow Oregonian on the forum (I'm in Tigard - next to Portland, for those out of the area).

I`ll need some clues though. Like the numbers from one to five. The verb to be. 'mom', 'dad'..
Stuff like that.
There is a region in Senegal Africa called Gatie. Africa is full of languages and dialects. Gatie is an Irish surname.
Could it be Native American and start with a glottal stop and not an English 'g'? Do you remember if it sounded germanic or closer to a romance language?
If your friend spelled the name of the language, would she spell it 'gatie' or does it just sound like that when she says it?
If ya can find any clues that would be great...
Hee hee. I guess my answer to your first post in this thread is "No, I`ve never heard of it!"

What’s the cultural background of your friend? Is she from European, African, Meadle East or Asian origin? There are two languages with names close enough to the spelling you used for your friend’s mother tongue. Gatti from India and Gade from Nigeria.
