I've never heard Esperanto "bebo" used as "baby" is used romantically in English (except a few times by native English speakers). I'm rather partial to JoMo's "knanjo" for this purpose.

Also note that "mortulo" is a mortal, one who can/will eventually die.

For reaper, I'd consider "falĉisto" or "rikoltisto" for a pretty literal translation. Or maybe simply "Morto", a literal personification of death.

Vikipedio calls The Grim Reaper Mortulo, which makes sense to me: "death-person". Shouldn't mortal be morteblulo "die-able-person" after all I've seen mortebla used for mortal as an ajective.

I was kind of going on faith that this article had got the translation right. For mortal, Reta Vortaro has karnulo, something I've seen fairly often, aswell as mortema for the adjective, from which you can also form mortemulo.

Personally I don't like mortulo because if you break it down you get "a person characterised by death". You could say that a mortal is characterised by death to some degree but I think it's a bit too strong, and far better suited to the meaning of the grim reaper, who is literally a personification of death. With that in mind I don't think "morto" works well because it just means death, no implication of personification.. that part comes by adding "ul".

knanjo is pretty cool I like that. I guess simply kara or karulino are other alternatives.

I think mortebla and morteblulo are actually impossible forms. PMEG has the following to say on the suffix ebl:

"PMEG":EBL = “povas esti farata”. Komparu kun IND kaj END. Tio, kio staras antaŭ EBL, ĉiam ricevas agan kaj pasivan signifon. La aga signifo estas tiu, kiun la radiko havas kun verba finaĵo. EBL-vortoj do ĉiam devenas de verboj. Oni povas uzi EBL nur ĉe objektaj verboj:

EBL="possible to be done". Compare with IND and END. That which comes before EBL always receives a passive-action meaning. The meaning of the action is that which the root has with a verb ending. EBL words therefore derive from verbs. You can use EBL only with objective (transitive) verbs."

Since morti is intransitive, mortebla doesn't seem to make sense. If you were going to go down that route I think the best you could say would be mortpova and mortpovulo, which I think is probably yet another valid way of translating mortal.

I like mortpovulo... Dunno why tho.
