fusilo - gun,

Rogir:I personally prefer pafilo for gun. It's such a nice and fun word.
Actually thats a much better word, thanks Rogir ridulo.gif
I believe the 'fusi' refers to the 'rifling' inside the barrel of a gun which improves accuracy, a twisting groove which early guns, like muskets, didn't have. So a 'fusilo' is a bit more specific & brings to mind a rifle with a long barrel.

I thought of this because I like to eat fusili.

> The ĥ is the same as the Mandarin "h" sound...

Are you sure about that? It always sounds much closer to a regular h to me.

Mandarin Phonology.
Voiceless velar fricative [x]

There's no English "h" in proper Standard (whatever you agree with) Mandarin, only a [x] sound. This is what the Esperanto /ĥ/ is. However, the Esperanto /ĥ/ can also represent related sounds like [χ], which appears in Dutch words like Scheveningen and occaisionally appears in German in words like Dach apparently.
